question - why did slavery come to mean racial or black slavery?
ANSWER : Slavery came to mean racial or black slavery when Africans first came to North America in 1619. Dutch sailors brought 20 African slaves to Jamestown, Virginia to pay off what their owners had payed for them.Once they worked off what the owners pay for them they were freed. By 1640 people began to leave their African servants to their children in their wills and that's how slavery began.
